Administrators in Academic Psychiatry is a professional organization founded in 1985 to provide education and networking opportunities of administrators in academic settings. AAP sponsors a Fall meeting as well as an annual Educational Conference in conjunction with the Medical Group Management Association's Academic Practice Assembly Educational Conference. Members also receive a quarterly newsletter, The GrAAPvine.

Summary of Responses to List Serv Question:
Professional Development Allowance for Residents and Fellows

Some schools had a very straightforward dollar amount per resident/fellow.  Some had more complex systems of awarding additional funds over a base amount.  Some were open as to what academic development expenditures could be made and some directed expenditures to purchase of identified books, exams, or travel support to present at meetings or to specific meetings.

The dollar amount varied significantly from medical school to medical school.  The following summarizes the responses of dollar amount per resident and/or fellow:

            and up to $800 registration fee per program and one presentation meeting
            at the same rate
